Who We Are

The Kerry Local Authority Integration Team (LAIT) is dedicated to supporting the integration of migrants, including International Protection Applicants (IPAs), Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTPs), and other vulnerable groups within County Kerry. Our mission is to empower individuals to live independently and fully participate in their new communities.

Our Mission

Our overarching aim is to empower individuals within our target groups to live independently in the community. We uphold the principle of “nothing about us without us,” ensuring that policies and decisions are made with representation from the affected groups. Co-design and collaboration are our ultimate goals.

  • International Protection Applicants (IPA) and Those with Status (TwS)
  • Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTPs)
  • Individuals under the Irish Refugee Protection Programme (IRPP)
  • Vulnerable migrants
  • Community Sponsorship beneficiaries

Our Services

We provide a range of services to help new arrivals integrate into the community, including:

  • Connecting with Support Services: We guide new arrivals through the immigration and integration process, helping them access services like legal aid, healthcare, childcare, job training, and education.
  • Promoting Independent Living: We provide information and support to help individuals live independently.
  • Community Engagement: We hold meetings and workshops to foster community development and integration.
  • Support Against Discrimination: We assist individuals facing racism or unfair treatment, helping them report it to the appropriate authorities.
  • Collaboration: We work with various stakeholders, including NGOs, community organizations, and government bodies, to provide comprehensive support.

  • Step by Step Guides: Resources for IPAs and BOTPs to navigate their new environment.
  • Integration Projects: Local Area Response Teams (LARTs) in Killarney, Tralee, West Kerry, North Kerry, and South Kerry.
  • Community Integration Forum: Coordination and support for community integration efforts.
  • Kerry Together Website: A multilingual platform providing information and resources for IPAs and BOTPs.
  • Workshops and Clinics: Targeted information sessions on various topics, including legal advice, education, and mental health.

Our Team

The Kerry LAIT is composed of an Integration Support Coordinator (ISC), two Integration Support Workers (ISW) and an Administrative Support (ASO).
